White Lotus Season 3 Episode 4 Recap: Hide or Seek

Fabio Lovino/HBO

It’s a new day at the villa, and Jacklyn is frustrated with her husband Harrison, who is not responding to her calls or texts. The lack of affection is noticed by Laurie and Kate at breakfast when Jacklyn decides they should have some real fun today. Yoga? They can do that at home. Jacklyn asks Valentin for a recommendation of where to go, and they end up at a pool near the resort.

It’s a nice pool, but something feels off. Jacklyn takes a full 360 of the place and realizes everyone around them is a senior. All of them! Is that the vibe she’s giving off? Jacklyn drags her friends out of there and tells Valentin they need actual fun.

Once in town—and after being chased by kids with water guns during Thailand’s New Year Festival, Songkran—they end up at a club, just like Jacklyn had envisioned. Valentin also brings two friends: Vlad and Alexei. The night looks promising.

Saxon starts his day by disturbing the peace of his brother and sister with a protein shake and sexual jokes. Timothy starts his day with another lorazepam stolen from Victoria. She notices some of her pills are missing and asks if the kids have taken any. Not the kids, Victoria…

Gaitok makes a move on Mook and invites her out on a proper date. Later, at his meeting, he learns that the hotel is worried about the security of the guests and facilities. His superior believes they should be better prepared for situations like the recent robbery and gives Gaitok a gun.

Out at sea, the Ratliff family, Chelsea and Rick, and a few others join Chloe and Gary/Greg on his boat for a sail around the islands. Rick regrets his decision before even boarding, and Victoria silently judges everyone she sees—especially the young women with much older husbands.

Piper tells Lochlan she’ll need his help at dinner when she shares some news with her parents: she plans to move to Thailand for a one-year program at the meditation center. There was no thesis; she just needed a hook to check out the monastery. Lochlan is hurt by Piper’s decision, asking where he fits into her plan if she’ll be so far away.

Lochlan’s sadness is quickly erased by Saxon’s plan to get him laid that night. Saxon starts the small talk and flirts with the girls, but once Lochlan pulls out his magic tricks, the girls fall for his cute charm. Meanwhile, Victoria is freaking out that her bottle of lorazepam is missing, while Timothy tries to play it cool by hiding the pills from her.

Chelsea, finally done being patient—at least for the moment—corners Rick for a real-deal conversation. She can’t stand being around his dark cloud anymore and wants to know why they’re in Thailand and what his plans are in Bangkok. Rick finally shares that he’s going there to confront Jim Hollinger (Sritala’s husband), the man who, according to Rick’s mother, killed his father. The feeling of never knowing his dad has haunted him, as he previously shared with Amrita in a stress management session.

Rick explains that his father came to Thailand to help locals resist Americans trying to steal their land. Chelsea fears this is going to turn into a “You killed my father. Prepare to die” situation. Rick assures her that’s not his intention, and—loving as always—Chelsea embraces him.

Belinda follows up on her curiosity from the night before by searching for Tanya McQuoid online. She’s shocked to discover that Tanya’s body was found off the coast of Taormina and that her former husband had refused multiple requests for questioning. When Belinda searches for “Greg Hunt,” she realizes for certain that Greg and Gary are the same person. When they cross paths again at the resort, she can’t help but glare at him.

Back on the boat, Timothy and Gary chat. Timothy tells him that people usually come to Thailand either “looking for something or hiding from something.” We know which one applies to Gary—but Gary wants to know which one applies to Timothy. Ever the secret keeper, Greg tells Chloe he has something important to deal with back home. Chloe asks if she can still take the boat to Koh Phangan for the Moon Party, and after a few requests, he agrees.

Lochlan and Saxon join Chloe, along with Chelsea, who couldn’t convince Rick to come. She’s afraid he’ll do something stupid, but he insists he just wants to look the man who ruined his life in the eye. Chelsea isn’t convinced that’s all he’ll do.

The rest of the Ratliff family sits down for dinner, where Victoria claims Piper is lucky to have Timothy—a true boy scout— as her dad, unlike the other men on the boat, who lie and hide in Thailand. Unsettled, Timothy excuses himself and asks Pam for his phone. He immediately regrets it as a flood of messages, missed calls, and voicemails hit him. He calls his associate, Chuck, and learns that Kenny Nguyen, Timothy’s former business partner, is cooperating with the feds. Kenny is going to prison and has struck a deal to tell the feds everything.

Chuck advises Timothy to plead guilty to embezzlement and fraud to serve only a few months in federal prison. The feds could still seize everything—including his house. Timothy says, “I’d rather. Fucking. Die.” than go to jail and admit to his family that they’re poor. After hanging up, he lifts his head and sees the gun on Gaitok’s desk—and steals it. He gives Pam her phone back and returns to dinner. When Gaitok comes back from walking Mook to her show, he notices the gun is gone.

While Chloe is off having fun, Gary is doing his own research. He has Belinda’s Instagram page open, showing a photo of her and her son, Zion. There’s no “stranger danger” here— now both Belinda and Gary know each other’s faces. Will Gary do something to Belinda to protect his peaceful life in Thailand?

As Chloe and her friends sail away to the Moon Festival, Saxon is right about one thing: “Things are about to get crazy!” Not just for him and Lochlan, who are planning an all-night with Chloe, but for many other characters now facing hard decisions and dangerous truths.
